Sovereign Hill acknowledges the Wadawurrung people as the Traditional custodians of the land on which we operate. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present, and to all of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who live and work on Wadawurrung Country. We acknowledge their unceded sovereignty over Wadawurrung Country, and the ongoing hardship and trauma as a result of colonisation. The history and continuous culture of the Wadawurrung people is an important part of our shared story.

The Ballarat &amp; District Irish Association presents an exploration of the backbone it takes to migrate - to journey worlds away from home, country and night sky. Poets, historians, and storytellers delve into the emotional courage and fortitude of Irish women who journeyed across the sea, with hopes of building a new life and creating new communities. Featuring short film, poetry, historical readings, and live music, we will share together story and verse to bring heart to bear on the stories of the past - where fact is illuminated by fiction. Set at a time of Samhain, when in Irish mythology the veil between the worlds is thin, we hope to hear whispers of the past.Image: Reflections on Courage by Erin McCuskey.
