Food, Fire & Light Festival

This is Sovereign Hill in a whole new light

Bustling revelry, crackling fires and tantalising aromas will transform Sovereign Hill this October as the inaugural Food, Fire and Light Festival takes centre stage across two weekends: Friday 11 and Saturday 12 October; Friday 18 and Saturday 19 October.

As day succumbs to night, Food, Fire and Light will take visitors on a sensory journey around Sovereign Hill; hosting a captivating evening experience that blends history, art, culture, music and culinary delights. This new festival promises a modern twist on traditional elements, offering a fresh take on the renowned gold rush town's nocturnal allure.

Drawing inspiration from the vibrant nightlife of Ballarat's gold rush era, Food, Fire and Light will bring to life the pulsating energy and communal camaraderie that blossomed around open fires under the night sky. This celebration will pay homage to the convivial spirit and culture shaped on the goldfields, engaging visitors in a tapestry of experiences rooted in heritage and imbued with contemporary verve.

Visitors will be enchanted by a captivating line-up of activities including bonfires; mesmerising fire twirlers; live gold pouring and smelting; stunning installations; hot tyring demonstrations; projected ethereal performances; live music acts; campfire storytelling; gold-dusted cocktails; and a fiery food menu.

Food, Fire and Light has been made possible by funding from the State Government of Victoria's Regional Events Fund and the City of Ballarat.

Stayed tuned for further details including the full event program and ticket release, set to be unveiled in August.
