Sovereign Hill acknowledges the Wadawurrung people as the Traditional custodians of the land on which we operate. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present, and to all of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who live and work on Wadawurrung Country. We acknowledge their unceded sovereignty over Wadawurrung Country, and the ongoing hardship and trauma as a result of colonisation. The history and continuous culture of the Wadawurrung people is an important part of our shared story.

The Centre for Rare Arts &amp; Forgotten Trades (Rare Trades Centre for short) is world class facility dedicated to learning and preserving Australia’s rare arts and trades through a series of workshops, masterclasses, events and residencies. 
The Centre has been built from a love of heritage, a desire to create things that last, and to connect people to lifelong learning.  While it has been informed by our past, the ambition is to imagine a world where contemporary practice and future innovation is supported by a dedication to expertise and skill sharing.  
The belief is that value and worth is defined by more than just price, and that working with expert tradespeople, everyone has the potential to create and contribute to the enduring legacy of human skill.
