If you’re into history, collections, research, education and interpretations then you have picked a golden moment to apply for a student placement.

The first Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections, home to more than 150,000 important pieces, is now open. This is dynamic storytelling which brings people into close contact with items that explain our past and shape the future. We are one place with many stories to tell and maybe you can help our accredited curators reveal some powerful ideas that change the way people think about history and themselves.

Tradies keep the magic alive at Sovereign Hill. Sparkies, Chippies, Audio-Visual Gurus, Engineers, Landscapers and Gardeners ensure our site delivers every day for visitors and staff.

They might work behind the scenes but without them there are no scenes. These guys are busy but if there’s a gap maybe you might end up seeing what they do if you apply for a placement.

This is a gig where you can step back into the goldrush in a costume that will take you there. You transform into one of our characters as you work in some of our stores that capture the spirit of another time and place.

Along the way, you will learn about a lot about tourism and meet great people on both sides of the counter. But you don’t have to dress up, you can come as you to see how modern shopping operates with our unique products at some of our other locations.

There’s heaps happening at The Hill, maybe there’s something you’d like to explore here. We’ve got skilled people that create wheels and coaches, we have dedicated teachers that offer a learning experience that you can only get here, we have actors who can hold the crowds in the palm of their hands.
