Chinese Village
The Chinese Village here at Sovereign Hill shows that most Chinese dwellings were canvas tents, set out in rows and numbered. There were usually six to eight men to a tent. These villages were all male communities, most intending to find gold and return to China. The Golden Point Temple or "Joss house" is dedicated to the warrior god Quan Gong - popular with the Chinese on the Goldfields because he repesented prosperity.
