Our Valued Volunteers
The Friends of Sovereign Hill (FOSH) are an enthusiastic group of volunteers who, dressed in appropriate costume, help Sovereign Hill with its presentation of a busy, bustling 1850s goldmining Township.
While staff members provide colour and activation in the business areas of Sovereign Hill, many of our FOSH are ‘residents’ of the Township, and can be found in the tents and huts of the Diggings and the cottages of Speedwell Street.
They play an important role in helping to meet and greet visitors in the Entrance and taking children attending the Red Hill School, St Peter’s School and the Ragged School on orientation tours of Sovereign Hill.
Costumed FOSH also attend a variety of off-site promotional activities on behalf of Sovereign Hill and are regular participants in filming and photographic work, In all of these areas, they complement the efforts of the staff and an integral part of life at Sovereign Hill.
